Bend Blogs
Local Central Oregon resident and programmer Jake Ortman has created a site which as the name implies, aggregates all Bend area blogs.
Once an hour, Jake's spider reaches out, downloads all new postings, then includes those stories on his front page. When visitors come to his site and like your headline and description, they click through and find themselves on your site.
If you'd like to read about what other locals are writing in the blogosphere, visit Bend Blogs. If you'd like Jake to include your blog on his site, complete his "Submit A Site" form.
Back to top Free Friday Workshops for April 23rd
- Introduction to WordPress (10 to 11am) - Brian will be covering the basics of small site building and blogging using the world famous WordPress. How is a blog made? Learn about the difference between a post and a page, upload images, and especially, how to write for the web.
- A WordPress Barn Raising (11 to noon) - The Alpine team will be building a real-world site in class, starting from the initial software installation. We'll start with settings, design theme and plugin selection, then move to pages and postings. In one hour, we will have a completely new site ready for launch. Finally, we'll submit the updated site to Google, Technorati, Bing, Yahoo, DMOZ, and other sites.
- Writing with Keywords (noon to 1pm) - It's not just what you say, it's how you say it. Put your targeted keywords to use on your site, your blog, and your store. This class will demonstrate basic techniques used to "enrich" standard copy with targeted keywords while maximizing readability for your visitors. We will use the new site and it's content as a live example.
- The Fresh Web (1 to 1:15) - This week on the web. The web is an ever-changing, even accelerating, networked environment. Many of these changes affect you as a web author or manager. Morgan will help put these into perspective by presenting a short review of web news for the week ending April 23rd.
- Center Stage Review (1:15pm to 2) - Drop in and learn (or re-learn) how to manage your site using Alpine's Content Management System, Center Stage. See the built-in keyword analysis, suggestion, and redirect tools in action and learn how Center Stage makes search engine optimization a breeze. If you haven't been in for a while or have new job responsibilities that include Center Stage, please feel free to stop by.
These classes are free and open to the public.
Remember, we have a new location at 790 SW Industrial directions >
