WordPress 3.0 Now Available

The big news on the web today involved the new release of WordPress 3.0.  Version 3.0, is the 13th major release of the software, and contains over 2,700 improvements.

With this release, "WordPress is now becoming one of the most capable blogging platforms out there," said Adriaan Bloem, an analyst for the Real Story Group, a research and consulting firm specializing in content management software.  more >

Current WordPress users with Alpine can update immediately from within their dashboards.  Alpine is installing 3.0 as the current version of all newly installed blogs, and we'll be discussing differences between 2.x and 3.0 in tomorrow's workshops.

Tomorrow's Workshop Schedule

The schedule for this Friday, June 18th:

• WordPress 3.0 Basics (10 to 11am) - Brian will be covering the changes now available in the WordPress 3.0 platform, released Thursday.  Included are major enhancements in navigation, theme assignment, different post types, and upgrade management.  We'll have a hands-on tour and interactive discussion around the impact of this new release.
   
• Effective Social Media (11 to noon) - Brian will be leading a discussion on reaching your audience in new ways using social media. Bring visitors to your site using Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. We will also discuss the social media ecosystem, automation opportunities and results measurement.
   
• The Fresh Web (noon to 12:15) - This week on the web. The web is an ever-changing, even accelerating, environment. Many of these changes affect you as a web author or manager. Morgan will help put these into perspective by presenting a short review of web news for the week ending June 18th.
   
• Center Stage Review (12:15pm to 1) - Drop in and learn (or re-learn) how to manage your site using Alpine's Content Management System, Center Stage. See the built-in keyword analysis, suggestion, and redirect tools in action and learn how Center Stage makes search engine optimization a breeze. If you haven't been in for a while or have new job responsibilities that include Center Stage, please feel free to stop by.
