Going Google

Going Google

Google Apps is finally here.  Alpine is using it and configuring it for clients now.   At it's most basic, Google Apps is like a private, corporate version of the GMail service that so many people use.  But naturally, email is just the start.

Every GApps installation includes:

  • Secure, spam-filtered email, branded with your own domain name.
  • Private, public, and sharable calandars.
  • Voice, text, even video chat.
  • Private, shared and co-editable documents and spreadsheets.
  • Forms processing for data collection and corporate routing.
  • Smooth (relatively) upgrade path from Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes.
  • Best of all, No servers, no software to install, it all works through your browser.

According to the Google Blog, "Over 1.75 million businesses, schools and organizations have gone Google — including Motorola, University of Notre Dame, the Mercy Corps and many more — and each day, 3,000 more organizations join them."

Do we get such greatness for free?  Well no, there is a free 30-day trial, then Google charges $50 per user, per year.  If comfortable, set it up yourself, or Alpine can help you through the process.

Interested?  Give us a call or send an email and we'll help you "Go Google".  See the videos, or check out Google's writeup on the service.
