Locals Only Edition

Locals Only Edition

Welcome to the first "Locals Only" edition of Results.  I am distributing this edition only to people we've worked with in our own backyard of Central Oregon.  If you have received this newsletter in error, please click unsubscribe below and we'll never darken your inbox again.

Quick Note: We have moved two blocks to the west to the brand spanking (oops, spam word) new Mill Quarter, address and photo below.

Last week, KOHD ran a story about Bob Thomas losing his local Chevy dealership which noted that unhappy customers started a letter-writing campaign hoping to support Mr. Thomas' appeal.   Clearly, the impact of such a decision is bad for Central Oregonians, area business and bad for GM.

We at Alpine put our heads together and thought about how we might help out.  Maybe do something on the web, hoping to support the effort.

We came up with a plan, got the team here at Alpine together over the weekend and we built a small site for the purpose of collecting feedback, comments, and posting updates dedicated to this topic.  The result was a new site:  KeepChevyInBend.com

First, I'd invite all of us Central Oregon folks to participate.   With more people on board, we believe it may help sway opinions in Detroit.

But, really interesting is what happened after the launch...

The Results

The story of KeepChevyInBend.com broke with some unexpected velocity.  Within 10 minutes of "tweeting" the launch, I was on the phone with KBND radio doing a phone interview for the drive-time news.  Later, as I was driving home, I got a call, pulled off the parkway to do a interview with Doug Johnson for a followup piece to the original story.

Early this morning, the story went to KGW in Portland as well as a number of local bloggers.  On the front page of today's Bend Bulletin is a story detailing a letter our U.S. senator Ron Wyden wrote yesterday (after the launch) to GM expressing his concern over this decision.  The site, in less than fourteen hours, is now in the top five search results on Google for "Chevy Bend".

The story is getting bigger mostly because of it's publicity value.   But, the website is helping to concentrate the energy, focus local action, and support the message in powerful, consistent way.

Do you have a story to tell?

Do you have a story to tell?

Do you have a story? A great idea? Give us a call and we'll see if we can help.  By the way, I'm using the new (less expensive and more capable) Rainmaker Express to send this email from our new office (image to the right).

If you have a local colleague you think would like to see this, please feel free to forward.  If you are reading a copy that has been forwarded, printed, scanned or otherwise mangled, send me an email and I'll add you to the list.

Of course, we've moved, but all phones and emails remain unchanged. 541-312-4704.   Oh, and (congrats on reading this far!) stop by Friday morning for a visit, some coffee, and complementary "Amazing Cinnamon Rolls" from Angeline's Bakery.
